County Park - Thunder Bay Neighbourhoods
County Park, also known as County Fair, is a relatively new neighbourhood. This area is north of the Thunder Bay Expressway and east of Dawson Rd.. The community is built around the County Fair Plaza, the largest shopping mall in the north of Thunder Bay. Its proximity to the Thunder Bay Expressway makes it easy to get to work, to the airport, or out of town. Most housing here is single family, dating to the 1970s, 80s and 90s. There are some co-op townhouses in the eastern part of the area, along Balsam St.
The community has no elementary schools, but the public and Catholic schools are across the Expressway. Both high schools are a bus ride away, and the nearest public library is down the hill on Red River Road.
County Fair Plaza is the largest shopping mall in the area and is right in the neighbourhood.
The community is verging on rural, but has several urban amenities. The community is wrapped around large County Park and Shuniah Park, providing large open areas which also have recreational pathways alongside the area's creeks.
