Malvern - Scarborough, Ontario neighbourhoods and nearby communities
Commuters have good access to the 401 via Markham, Neilson, or Morningside. TTC transit users have excellent bus routes. Sheppard & Finch busses connect to stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line. Several routes through the community connect to Scarborough Town Centre's transit station, on the Scarborough Rapid Transit system. Some busses in the community are rush-hour only.
The community has 12 elementary schools, 4 catholic elementary schools, 1 private (religious) school, 1 high school, and a library. Seneca College's Newham Campus is west of the community along Finch Ave. Centennial College's Progress campus is just southeast of 401 & Markham Rd, and University of Toronto at Scarborough is at Ellesmere & Morningside.
Most area residents shop at the Malvern Town Centre (Tapscott & Neilson Roads), while the area south of Sheppard is home to several big box stores and a multi-screen movie theatre.
Malvern has many parks and ravines and has a number of paved recreational pathways around the community. The community is also adjoining Rouge River Park, the largest natural area in the city, as well as the 710 acre Toronto Zoo which is home to 5,000 animals. As well, the community has 1 ice arena, 1 indoor pool, 1 running track, several tennis courts, several baseball diamonds, and several sports fields.
Malvern area homes were built in the 1970, with some areas built in the 80s and 90s. Many homes have views of parkland, ravines, or the Rouge River Valley. The affordable homes have attracted may new Canadians, and home prices are in the low to low-medium price ranges.
