This is the historical part of Port Moody, where the Canadian Pacific Railway first stopped for a Pacific Port (before the line was extended west to Vancouver). The area, on both sides of St Johns Street, has lots of old parks, historical buildings, and its share of museums.
The neighbourhood's shopping is clustered along St Johns Street, with larger malls at Heritage Mountain Village or further east in Coquitlam
These neighbourhoods have 3 elementary schools and are served by Port Moody Secondary in the west. Douglas College's Coquitlam campus is just to the east and Simon Fraser University is just to the west.
The 3.8 hectare Rocky Point Park has hiking trails, a newly renovated spray park, a skate park, a bike trials park, a playground, a picnic shelter, a boat launch and a recreational pier. In 2008, Port Moody has renovated its recreation complex to include an Olympic size ice rink, this new facility will have an indoor running track, a state-of-the-art gym, a curling rink and an athlete's lounge.
