These communities lie on the west side of the Rideau River, and southeast of the neighbourhood of Barrhaven. Once largely rural, on the outside of the Greenbelt, these neighbourhoods are gradually increasing density, prized for their proximity to the scenic Rideau River.
Davidson Heights is nestled between Merivale and Woodroffe, south of Fallowfield Rd, and is adjoining the South Merivale Business Park, to which it is connected via Lekin Drive. Rideau Glen is located alongside Prince of Wales Drive, beside the Rideau River, where it connects with Merivale.
Jockvale is a small community between Barrhaven and the Jock River, between Greenbank and Woodroffe.
Stonebridge is nestled between Heart's Desire & Barrhaven with 700 acres of lush green hills, treed woods with homes built around the prestigious Stonebridge Golf & Country Club. Was voted Community of the Year by the Ottawa Carleton Home Builders Association, Stonebridge has a mix of large single family homes, adult lifestyle bungalows, and townhomes.
The homes here are largely single family, typically on rural acreages, but increasingly. Hearts Desire has a senior's residence, as well.
This community is a very new neighbourhood and only 3% of homes pre-date 1990. 45% of homes were built 1991 - 2000, and the majority of homes (52%) were built since 2001. Of the neghbourhood's 4,700 dwellings: 57% are single family, 2% are semi-detached, 39% are row houses, and 2% are low-rise apartments. The great majority (93%) of residents own their homes and only 7% rent.
