Victoria Park Village is a quiet neighbourhood overlooking the East Don River Valley, between Lawrence and Eglinton. There is a CPR railway line and light industry in the northwest corner. The community is culturally diverse and popular with young families. This part of Toronto was prime farmland until the early1950s, when 7 farms were bought and subdivided. The community was designed similar to Don Mills to provide a mix of work, home, shop and play and named for the adjacent Victoria Park Avenue.
Motorists have access to the Don Valley Parkway via Eglinton or Lawrence, and can travel south into downtown or north to Highway 401.TTC riders have regular service along Victoria Park connecting to Victoria Park station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line, and a rush-hour bus along Carnforth Road, Sweeney Drive, and Sloane Avenue to the Woodbine station. As well, Eglinton and Lawrence Avenue buses connect to stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line.
The community is served by 3 elementary schools, 1 public library and 1 high school. The York University Glendon campus is west on Lawrence Avenue E.
Locals can shop at the area's many plazas and malls along Victoria Park and along Eglington. These include Victoria Terrace (Lawrence & Victoria Park) to the north, Eglinton Squre (Eglinton & Victoria Park), and Eglinton Town Centre (Eglinton & Warden) to the east, along with the adjoining Golden Mile shopping district.
The community is adjacent to a Conservation Area to the west, that forms part of the Don Valley parklands. The community also has baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and an ice arena. There is a multi-plex movie theatre to the east on Eglinton Town Centre, and the ever-popular Ontario Science Centre with its OMNIMAX theatre is just to the west along Eglinton.
Homes here were built in the 1950s and early 60s, and offer detached and semi-detached 2-storey and split-level homes, and bungalows. Many homes back on to Don Valley parkland or ravines. Along the main throughfares are a number of rental apartment and condominium buildings. Homes her are in the low to low-medium price ranges.
