These communities are nestled between Leslie Street and the Don Valley parkway and straddle the East Don River. Graydon overlooks the East Don Valley and lies North of York Mills Rd and south of the 401. The area has some light industrial areas east of Don Mills Rd, and residential areas to the east. South of York Mills Rd the community overlooks the Donalda Golf Course. The community is named for the Gray family which operated the grist mill on the Don River from the 1830s to 1914. The area was farmland from the 1860s until the 1970s when it was developed. This community is also the location of the Prince Hotel, which serves the many business travellers to the area's offices.

Don Mills lies south of York Mills, with the residential community clustered around the Don Mills Centre at Lawrence Ave E. The business park on both sides of Eglinton are a major head office centre for IBM Canada Ltd., the International Order of Foresters (IOF), the Toronto Real Estate Board. The community is named for the several mills along this stretch of the Don Valley during the 1800s. In 1952, the original Dunlop family farm was sold to E.P. Taylor's development company who made it the first fully planned community in Canada to integrate work, play and shopping.

Don Mills Road gives motorists access to the Don Valley Parkway, south to downtown and north to Highway 401, and beyond where the DVP becomes Highway 404. TTC uses, can take the #25 Don Mills buses north to the Don Mills station on the Sheppard Rapid Transit line, which connects to the Yonge-University-Spadina subway, or take the #25 Don Mills bus south past the Ontario Science Centre and connect to the Pape station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line. The east-west Eglinton bus connects west to the Yonge-University-Spadina subway and connects east to Kennedy station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line.


These neighbourhoods are served by 7 elementary schools, 1 Catholic elementary, 1 private school, 1 public high school and 2 public libraries. Flemingdon is served by 2 elementary schools, 1 Catholic elementary, 1 public library, and 1 public high school. The York University Glendon campus is west on Lawrence Avenue E. Don Mills Shopping Centre, with 150 stores, is right in the middle of Don Mills (on Lawrence Avenue East.


Don Mills and Gradydon have paved pathways connecting parks within the communities. Don Mills is adjacent to Edwards Gardens, which is the start of a paved pathway that continues for nine kilometers along the West Don River and then east along Taylor Creek to Warden Woods Park in Scarborough. These communities are served by 3 indoor pools, 2 running tracks, 4 sets of tennis courts, 5 baseball diamonds, and 2 ice arenas. The community has the Donalda Golf Club in the north and the Flemingdon Park Golf Club to the southeast. Thecommunity is also home to the very popular Ontario Science Centre with OMNIMAX theatre, just south of Eglinton. Highway 401 at Don Mills Rd


Graydon homes were built in the 1970s and are now well-treed. The homes in the south have great ravine views, and are popular with middle income families, while closer to the 401 Graydon Hall Drive has affordable apartments and a condo building popular with recent immigrants.

Don Mills is also well-treed and the ravine lots in east Don Mills overlook the Don River Valley. Homes in Don Mills were built in the period 1953 - 1967 and have a mix of detached and semi-detached homes, bungalows, luxury condo buildings. Homes in this area are in the low to medium price ranges. The community also has affordable low-rise rental apartment buildings, row-housing and seniors residences.
