This community is named for the east-west Government Road, and lies between the Trans-Canada Highway and the parklands along the scenic north shore of Burnaby Lake. This area has fast access into downtown Vancouver, is close to Burnaby's industrial area adjoining the railway tracks, yet is nestled between Burnaby Mountain and Burnaby Lake.
Most of the homes in the community are single-family homes, with some semi-detached houses and multi-family townhouses.
The community is served by an elementary school and Burnaby Mountain High School.
There is shopping in the community, along Lougheed Highway and nearby at the Lougheed Mall
The community adjoins beautiful parklands and recreational pathways around Burnaby Lake. The community is adjacent to Burnaby Lake Nature House and is not far from the Sports Complex (with pool, arena and gym) and Boathouse on the west side of the lake, and the Equestrian Centre to the east.
