  • Halton Hills includes the two small urban centres of Georgetown and Acton plus a number of surrounding hamlets (notably Limehouse, Stewarttown, Norval, Hornby, Glen Williams and Ballinafad), and is about 40 -minutes drive from Toronto. The area's 5 1,000 residents are served by the GO Bus and GO Train, and VIA Rail stops in Georgetown with connections to Toronto and Southwestern Ontario.

    Georgetown has a population of 32,000 and has a charming downtown where you can browse antique shops, art galleries and farmers' markets. There are a number of historic buildings, including an 1836 train station, still used by GO Transit and VIA Rail.

    Acton has 8,500 residents and has a historical tannery and leather industry.

    Schools
    Halton Hills has 15 elementary schools, 1 French language elementary and 3 high schools.

    Shopping
    The shopping in the community tends to be along each town's main street. There are regional malls nearby in Milton and in Brampton/Bramalea.

    Recreation
    The Halton Hills area has one movie theatre, and live theatre, 8 golf courses, 4 ice arenas and several indoor & outdoor pools. There are several forested and scenic hiking trails, including four conservation areas nearby. Nearby, Fairy Lake in Prospect Park, is a popular spot for fishing and boating.

    Homes
    Executive style home in Halton Hills run around $305,000, with 3 bedroom family homes averaging around $270,000, and condos running $225,000. There is very little rental accommodation in this community. Comparable homes in Acton cost less than in Georgetown.
