Where This area is north of the Conestoga Parkway (#8) and west of downtown. Victoria hills is the community straddling Victoria St west of downtown, and is close to the quaint Belmont Village stores with many unique shops. Forest Hills is the community to the west of Lakeside Park and Shoemaker Creek, with the Forest Heights and Westheights communities west of the Fischer-Hellman Rd S. and south of Highland Rd, and Beechwood Forest and Highland West are north of Highland Rd. There are a number of malls along Highland Rd. Schools The community is served by 17 elementary schools, 4 high schools, and 2 public libraries. Post-secondary education is available at Conestoga College, with a Kitchener campus, a with University of Waterloo, Wilfred Laurier University in nearby Waterloo, and University of Guelph. Shopping Kitchener is well served by 4 significant shopping malls and plazas, and has a number of vibrant retail areas including Downtown, and Belmont Village. Recreation 
This part of Kitchener has lots of pools, arenas, and pretty creekside parklands, as well as two golf courses. There is the Chicopee Ski Hill nearby, on the city's SE corner.
Homes Kitchener is mature and has a range of homes, both new & resale/ Prices for Single family detached run $220,000 (2006 prices), Semi-detached residential $155,000, Townhouses/Row houses $170,000, and Condominium Units are averaging $120,000. Kitchener has designated three districts for historical preservation including Upper Doon, Victoria Park and the neighbourhood of veterans' housing around St. Mary's Hospital.
