Fredericton, New Brunswick
This area is across the river from Fredericton, west of the St Mary's First Nation Reserve. It is accessible via the Westmorland St Bridge which connects to #105, which hugs the north bank of the Saint John River. This was once a separate municipality, in the Parish of Dalhousie and the Municipality of Restigouche, but is now part of Fredericton.
Schools
This area is serviced by a number of elementary schools in each neighbourhood, and the Leo Hayes High School (in Devon). The community's public library is in the same building as the Nashwaaksis Middle School.
Shopping
Fredericton North's Main Street central business district, offering a variety of products and services from more than 170 businesses. This area is well known for its \outstanding Christmas decorations. Three malls, including the Brookside Mall on the north end of town serve the area, and the area around Nashwaaksis is becoming a town square
Recreation
The area has much green space particularly along the north bank of the Saint John River, including the Johnson Ave Environmental park, and the Trans-Canada Trail which winds along former railway tracks through the community. To the east of the intersection of Brookside and St Mary's St is the very popular Killarney Lake Park with a beach and picnic area. In the wintertime, the lake is cleared for skating and the 1.6km trail is perfect for a relaxing glide through the woods!
