Previous to being integrated into Saskatoon 35 years ago, the neighbourhood was a railway town. It is a modest area, with homes priced fairly low. The majority of the neighbourhood's growth has been in the industrial area. The rail yard is still there along with the tracks, separating the area from the more sought after neighbourhoods. The neighbourhood has its own public library and firehall.
Schools
The community has two elementary, one public and one Catholic, schools. West Co-op College is also located in the area. The high schools are a short distance away, the Catholic to the north, and the public to the south.
Shopping
The most convenient shopping is located on 8th St. with Grosvenor Park Centre, Plainsmen Plaza, College Park Mall and College Park Mall.
Recreation
In the area you'll find an indoor ice rink, the Sutherland Curling Club and a number of parks including Father Basil Markle Park and Anna MacIntosh Park
Homes
This residential area has average modest homes starting at around $100,000 with some going over $200,000. The proximity to the University driving the prices here higher than
average for the city.
