  • This community has many high-rise aparments This area is closer to the waterfront, between Algoma and Cumberland Streets. It is higher density with low-rise apartment buildings, and is know for its restaurants and boutiques. This community is wrapped around Downtown North, what used to be downtown Port Arthur. While much of the waterfront is inaccessible industrial land, the Marina Park development in recent years has added significantly to the quality of life in this community.

    Schools
The community is established and has schools with both school boards either in the neighbourhood or close-by, The high schools are also convenient, and the public library is right there. The community is also close by to Lakehead University.

    Shopping
The area is known for its shops & boutiques, clustered around Algoma-Bay or the Downtown North. There are also many fine ethnic restaurants in the community. For mall shopping, residents head south to the Intercity Shopping Centre.

Marina Park is the showcase of Thunder Bay Recreation
The community's pride & joy is the Marina Park, with its great vistas of the Sleeping Giant across the bay, and Waverly Park with its Thunderbshell Band Stand. There are recreational trails up McVicar Creek, north of River Road. A new live theatre is being completed, which will be the new home of the Magnus Theatre (currently in the East End). The Cineplex Odeon theatre is right on Cumberland. The recreational facilities of the Canada Games Complex are also close by, as is the beautiful Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.
