  • REcreational Trails run through the community's parks College Heights This area is sandwiched between River Street to the north and Red River Road on the south. This community is named for the Port Arthur Collegiate, which has been a fixture for many years. The community is perched on a hill and offers great views of the Lake and countryside.

The community has many older homes, with the finer ones along High and Hill Streets (with the best views), and a few fixer-uppers. Between Junot and the Expressway are a number of affordable townhouses. There is a senior citizens home in the community, and there is a 12-storey high rise, Waverly Towers, near Waverly Park which offers great views.

    Schools
The community is established and is well-schooled. There are several elementary schools, with both school boards, and of course the high school for which the area is named. Catholic high school students head north about 2 kilometres. There is a library just down Red River Road. The community is also close by to Lakehead University.

    Shopping
The area is surrounded by good shopping possibilities: for malls head either north to Grandview or County Fair, or south to Intercity. For shops & boutiques, head down the hill to either Algoma-Bay or the Downtown North.

    Recreation
The community is dotted with small parks and greenspace, often around schools. West End Park has a running track, Hillcrest Park, on High Street offers stunning scenic views, and the larger George Burke Park offers larger natural areas as well as recreational trails. The Cineplex Odeon theatre is just down the hill on Cumberland.
