Uxbridge - Oshawa-Durham communities

This rural farming community of 17,000 is in the Oak Ridges Morraine area. Originally settled by Quakers and best known as the early home of Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables. There is a hospital in Uxbridge, and lots of recreation is nearby.

This community has 7 public schools, one separate school, one secondary school, and two libraries.

Shopping

The community has a historic Central Business District and major south-end commercial development.

Recreation

This community has a Museum, 15 Churches, an ice arena complex, a curling club, indoor pool, 5 golf courses, 3 ski hills, the Oak Ridges Morraine parkland/Conservation Lands wiht recreational trails, a Go-Kart track. There are over 60 community organizations for social, cultural, community and sporting purposes. Home Prices average $150,000 in the northern portion of Township, and $200,000 in town of Uxbridge. Some century-old homes line the older core of the town's main streets.
