  • Belleville, on the Bay of Quinte at the mouth of the Moira River, was settled by United Empire Loyalists in 1784 and became a city in 1878.The town has a popular yachting harbour, has beautiful floral displays in the city's parks. The town's 46,000 residents, and 190,000 within 30 minutes, have convenient access to highway 401.

    Belleville has 18 elementary, 5 high schools, 1 library, and 3 private schools, and is home to Loyalist Community College.

    Shopping
    Belleville is the largest service centre in the Bay of Quinte Tourist Region and has a couple of malls, a tree-lined downtown shopping area with 250 stores and services, and has a Farmers Market beside City Hall.

    Recreation
    Residents and visitors alike enjoy walking, biking and rollerblading on the Bayshore Trail and new Riverfront Trail. There are 19 golf courses in the area and 6 in the city, 4 ice arenas, 4 marinas, 29 ball diamonds, 5 indoor pools and an outdoor pool. Picturesque Prince Edward County (with its Presqu'ile Provincial Park) and cottage country are only minutes away.
