  • Lytton Park, west of Yonge and south of Lawrence Avenue, is one of Toronto's most exclusive neighbourhoods. The lots are large, and the community is close to a number of private schools. The Metropolitan Street Railway began servicing the area in 1886 with a station at Yonge and Glengrove, and the railway began land development 1888, which ramped-up in 1912 when the area was amalgamated into the City of Toronto. By 1930 the area was fully developed.

Motorists can head downtown via Yonge Street or Mount Pleasant Road and reach Highway 401 via Yonge St. The Lawrence station (on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line) is short walking distance. There is also good bus service on Yonge Street and on Avenue Road..

    Schools
This community is serviced by 2 public schools, 1 private school, 1 high schools and a public library. The Upper Canada College private school is about a mile to the south. Post secondary students are very close to York University's Glendon Campus on Bayview, Seneca College's Denham Campus to the northeast, and can access University of Toronto and Ryerson University via the Yonge-University-Spadina subway.

    Shopping
Lytton Park has access to upscale shopping districts adjacent along Yonge Street, Avenue Road and Eglinton Avenue West.

    Recreation
Lytton Park, the neighbourhood's namesake, is submerged below surrounding traffic and has little noise. The community has several tennis courts, a lawn bowling club, and to the north in the Chatsworth Ravine are more tennis courts, a wintertime ice rink, and a nature trail. To the south is Eglinton Park with a swimming pool and ice arena. There is a multi-screen movie theatre nearby at Yonge & Eglinton.

    Homes
The area has many Tudor and Georgian style houses, with large well-treed gardens dating back to between 1890 and 1930. Houses are priced in the medium to luxury price ranges.
