  • This little valley enclave is southeast of Yonge & York Mills, with parkland and recreational trails separating it from Yonge to the west, and surrounded by the Rosedale Golf Club to the south and east. This community is named for James Hogg, an 1824 Scottish settler who ran a whisky distillery and a grist mill. In 1856, his sons subdivided the land into 141 lots, with four of the oldest homes--closest to Yonge St--still standing, though most were built between 1920 and 1960.

Motorists can get downtown in about twenty minutes via Yonge St, and access. Highway 401 just to the north. Residents can walk to the York Mills station on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line.

    Schools
The community is served by 3 elementary schools, 1 catholic elementary, 1 public high school and 3 private schools.

    Rosedale Golf Club Shopping
Hogg's Hollow residents can walk to the York Mills Centre, and enjoy the Yonge Street shopping district to the south. The larger malls are either north on Yonge (north of Sheppard) or at Yorkdale (at Dufferin, south of Wilson)

    Recreation
Hogg's Hollow residents have access to paved recreational pathways, the public Don Valley Golf course, just to the north, or the Rosedale Golf Club (private) just to the south.

    Homes
Hogg's Hollow has high-end homes set in a lush well-treed valley landscape. Because most homes were built over a period from 1920 into the 60s, the styles range from English Cottage to Tudor, Colonial, and Georgian through to Modernist. There are some luxury condominium townhouses and apartment buildings along Yonge Street, with views of the West Don Valley. Home prices are in the medium to luxury range
