  • Amesbury lies north of Trethewey, and is nestled around the Black Creek Valley and is laced with parks and ravines. Originally settled in 1805 by United Empire Loyalist John Denison, who's family became significant landowners in early Toronto. The Denison family owned land here until the 1930s when the land was subdivided and developed. The community adjoins Northwest General Hospital on Keel e Street.

    For motorists, Black Creek Drive connects commuters north to Highways 400 and 401, and south into Toronto's downtown. TTC's north-south Keele and Jane bus routes on connect to the Bloor-Danforth subway line, and the east-west Trethewey Drive and along Lawrence Avenue buses connect to the Lawrence West station on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line. There's also a rush hour bus that loops through the community.

    Schools
    There are 25 elementary schools, 3 secondary schools, 2 private/religious schools in this community, as well as 2 libraries. It is a short commute from the University of Toronto in North York to the south, and Sheridan College in Brampton to the northeast.

    Shopping
    The community has some small shops along Jane Street, and at rhe Lawrence and Black Creek Plaza, and The North Park Plaza (Keele Street & Lawrence Avenue) for larger shopping needs. The much larger Yorkdale Shopping Centre is about a mile away to the northeast.

    Recreation
    The community has access to a recreational pathway running next to Black Creek. The community's Amesbury Park (on Lawrence) has a sports complex with a community centre, indoor bocce courts, an ice arena, a swimming pool, a basketball court and tennis courts. The community also has an indoor pool, an ice arena, and a running track on Eglinton. The cinemas at Yorkdale are about a mile away.

    Homes
    The community is served by 3 elementary schools, 3 Catholic elementary schools. A public high school and a public library. York University is a few miles to the North via Jane & Steeles, and Humber College's North Campus is accessible view Weston Rd & Finch. University of Toronto is accessible via either subway route.
