This community is west of Sturgeon Road and north of the Assiniboine River. Just to the west of the community is the Assiniboia Downs Race Track and the Red River Exhibition Grounds. Crestview lies north of Portage Avenue, with the meandering Sturgeon Creek Park running through it, popular for cross-country skiing in wintertime. This area offers rental accommodation, affordable single family housing and luxury condos. Heritage Park lies east of Sturgeon Creek and has many older executive homes. Homes in this area range from $70,000 to $150,000. 
St Charles (to the west) & Westwood (to the east) is best known for its two golf courses, the exclusive St Charles and the more accessible Glendale. The Westwood area is about 25 years old, with substantial homes and condos along the river. Homes in this area range $160,000 to $275,000. Schools This area is managed by the St James Assiniboine School Division, and has 11 elementary and 3 secondary schools. There is also one public library in the neighbourhood. There is good access to Red River Community College to the North and University of Winnipeg to the east. Access to the University of Manitoba is via Kenaston to the south. Shopping Shopping in this area is centered along Portage Avenue, which bisects the community. There are also three larger malls: Crestview, Unicity and Glendale. Recreation 
The community is nestled alongside both the Assiniboine River and Sturgeon Creek, and has a number of fine parks and two excellent golf courses, Glendale and the St Charles. The area has 3 outdoor rinks, 3 indoor ice arenas, 4 tennis courts, 2 running tracks, and a cross country ski area.
