    Maples-Mandalay

    This area of Winnipeg lies west of McPhillips and north of Inkster and consists of relatively newer neighbourhoods. This area has had significant development in the past 20 years. The Maples and Mandalay West are still undergoing significant new home construction. The area has a diverse variety of housing including low cost rentals, luxury condominiums, seniors homes, affordable small bungalows, and executive homes. Homes tend to run $130,000 to $175,000.


    North of Leila is a new community, Amber Trails, is considered a move-up neighbourhood and is being built around a lake and Amberside Park with lots of community trails. Homes in this area are $150,000 to $250,000.

    This area is convenient to shopping along McPhillips, and has quick access to downtown and the airport using Keewatin, and is close to Seven Oaks General Hospital on the east..

    Schools

    This community is served by the Seven Oaks School District #10 and has 6 elementary schools and 2 high schools. This district offers an English/Hebrew and English /Ukrainian program, and various languages are offered in after-school programs. The community is 2 kilometres north of the Red River Community College.

    Shopping

    McPhillips Street is home to several shopping malls, including Templeton Square, Garden City Square Garden City, and Northgate. There are also small plazas scattered around the community.

    Recreation

    There are numerous medium-sized parks in the community, some with small lakes, and four indoor ice arenas, and an outdoor pool. The community is also served by two movie theatres on McPhillips Street, and the McPhillips Street Station casino. To the west, golfers will find The Player’s Course, Swinger’s Driving Range, and skiers will find Little Mountain Park
