Metchosin’s 5,000 residents live in a quiet rural area, though only a short drive to Victoria. Property taxes in Metchosin are paid to the provincial government. Metchosin has several neighbourhoods, including Rocky Point, William Head, Neild, and Albert Head. Metchosin is home to the Lester B Pearson College of the Pacific, as well as several defence installations along the coast.

Schools

Metchosin has a public school, and older students go to Dunsmuir High in nearby Colwood. The community is home to the Lester B Pearson College of the Pacific, though it is mostly attracting an international, not local, audience. The College has several locally-focused programs in the summers.

Shopping

There are small shopping plazas in William Head and on Happy Valley Road. Most local residents head into Langford or Colwood for serious shopping

Recreation

The community is home to two golf courses, Olympic View and Matheson, both highly rated. There are several park areas, including Matheson Provincial, Devonian Regional, Witty’s Lagoon Regional and Albert head Lagoon Regional. These parks combine coastal terrain with rugged deep forest. There are also a couple of nice ocean beaches, at Weir Beach, Witty’s Lagoon and Albert Head.
