  • South Cambie is a small neighbourhood, between Oak and Cambie streets from West 16th Ave to West 41st. Ave. The community is home to three major hospitals: British Columbia Children's, Women's Hospitals, and St. Vincent Hospital. The northern stretch of Cambie has a lot of retail activity, and south of King Edward (25th Ave) Cambie Street has a beautiful boulevard, with large trees between, the two sides of the road, which is called the "Cambie Heritage Boulevard", which continues all the way to Southwest Marine Drive.

    South Cambie is about 10-20 minutes from downtown Vancouver, and will shortly be getting three SkyTrain stations on the new Canada Line to Richmond and Vancouver International Airport:: at West 12th Avenue, King Edward and at West 41st Avenue.

    Homes
    The neighbourhood is mostly detached single family homes, with some low-rise apartments and condos along 15th and 16th Avenues. The northern stretch Cambie Street and Oak Street (south of King Edward) are lined with 4-storey apartments, with small shops and restaurants on the ground levels.

    Shopping
    There is lots of shopping along Oak and Cambie, north of King Edward, as well as at neighbouring Oakridge Centre, south Vancouver's largest shopping mall.

    Recreation
    The neighbourhood has a number of small parks scattered around the community, To the east of this community are Queen Elizabeth Park and adjoining Riley Park. Queen Elizabeth Park is home to a Conservatory, Pitch & Putt, lawn bowling, , curling club, swimming pool and the Nat Bailey Stadium. Riley Park has a community centre, an ice arena and an indoor pool. To the west is the VanDusen Botanical Gardens. The Langara Golf Course is nearby, to the south.

    Schools
    The neighbourhood is served by 4 elementary schools and Eric Hamber Secondary, and two libraries nearby. The neighbourhood is close to Langara College, on Wet 48th to the south, and the East Broadway area is full of post-secondary institutions, including BCIT's Great Northern Way campus, Vancouver Community College's King Edward campus.
