  • These areas are further west along the North Shore, and at their western end adjoin the refinery of Imperial Oil Company (hence, "Ioco"). These communities have great views west along Burrard Inlet and across to Burnaby Mountain. The Pleasantside area is centered around Barber Road, and the Sunnyside is centred around April Road.

Ioco Road is a major road which carries a large volume of traffic to and from
the Belcarra and Anmore areas (commuters in on weekdays, recreational traffic out on weekends). To keep traffic strains on Ioco low, Port Moody is restricting development in the area to single-family residential densities, until there is alternative access to Belcarra and Anmore.

    Shopping
Shopping is clustered around Heritage Mountain Shoppers Village, with more shopping to the east in Coquitlam along the Barnet Highway.

    Schools
These neighbourhoods are served by one elementary schools and the Heritage Woods Secondary school. Douglas College's Coquitlam campus is just to the east and Simon Fraser University is a significant commute to the west.

    Recreation
Bert Flinn Park (at Heritage Mountain & David) is a mountain bikers' paradise with 138 hectares of largely undeveloped parkland, with extensive unmarked trails along early 1900s logging roadbed, and an off-leash dog walk

    Homes
The Pleasantside and Sunnyside areas are mostly single-family homes, with a small number of townhouse developments along Ioco Road, the area's main traffic roadway.
