Summerland Neighbourhood - Okanagan Valley

This town of 11,000 lies halfway between Kelowna and Penticton on the west shore of Okanagan Lake. It sits at the mouth of three fertile valleys where they meet the Okanagan: Garnet, Prairie, and Peach. The community is home to BC Fruit Packers, Beavan's orchard cannery, and Summerland Sweets (specializing in syrups and jams The downtown has been revitalized, resembling a Tudor theme since the late 1970s.
Schools
Summerland is served by School District 67 Okanagan Skaha British Columbia which has an elementary, middle and high school in Summerland.
Shopping
The town has shopping areas near the waterfront, with most shopping clustered up the hill, along Highway 97. There are plenty of fruit stands along the roadway selling the area's bountiful produce.
Recreation
Recreation in the area is focused on the several beaches along the shores of the Lake, including Sunoka, Peach Orchard, Powell, and Rotary. There are two golf courses here, a 9-hole and an 18-hole. There is also a museum, a trout hatchery, two provincial parks, the Ogopogo Viewpoint, and for the active types there is the Trout Creek Canyon Trestle on the Kettle Valley Railway recreational trail, and Giants Head Park, worthy of a hike up, for the view.
Homes
There are homes along or near the lake, close to the beaches and beachfront condos and hotels, and there are more homes west of Highway 987, further away from the water, but with great views of Okanagan Lake.
