  • Sunset is a relatively quiet neighbourhood in South Vancouver which stretches from Ontario St. to Knight St. and from 41st Ave all the way to the Fraser River in the south, between Victoria and Main Street, and including the busy Knight Street corridor into Richmond's industrial area. This neighbourhood is very multicultural and is the heart of Vancouver's Punjabi and Sikh community. There is a large Sikh temple in the very south along South East Marine Drive. The community is served by Mount Saint Joseph's Hospital on Price Edward.

    Homes
    This community is mostly made up of single family homes, as well as a mix of houses divided into rental units and walk-up apartments. Many oif these relatively recent immigrants from Indian live with their large extended families in one big house. Som homes have great views of the mountains and Fraser River.

    Shopping
    Sunset has three main shopping areas. Fraser Street and Victoria Drive have many stores and restaurants, and Main Street has its Punjabi Market and has many Indian restaurants and clothing shops. In the north, East 41st Ave and Kingsway also have a good selection of shops & restaurants. The local mall is Champlain Square (East 41st Ave at Kingsway)

    Homes Along 49th Ave Recreation
    This neighbourhoods has a number of small and mid-sized parks scattered around the community. The community has an outdoor pool and an indoor ice arena at Sunset Park. Just to the northwest is Queen Elizabeth park with its Conservatory, Pitch & Putt, lawn bowling, , curling club, swimming pool and the Nat Bailey Stadium. The Langara and Fraserview golf courses are nearby.

    Schools
    The Sunset neighbourhood is served by 4 elementary schools, 1 secondary schools, and 2 public libraries. The neighbourhood is close to Vancouver Community College (West 49th & Ontario)
