Commonwealth Stadium This area, just east of the Edmonton Skyreach Centre and the Edmonton Northlands, is an older and well-established neighbourhood. Close to the River are the neighbourhoods of Virgina Park, Bellevue and Highlands, which contain many high value and even historical homes. Those along Ada Blvd have spectacular south and west-facing views. Further north, above 118th Ave, are the communities of Montrose and Newton with their smaller homes on smaller lots. The community is very crowded every time there is a hockey game or when there is an activity at the Edmonton Northlands. Neighbourhood residents are constantly fighting city hall against expansion of the park's recreational facilities because of its adverse impact on the community.

    Schools
The community has 5 public elementary schools and 2 Catholic elementary schools, with the high schools for the Public Board in the area, and the Catholic high school a commute away. The community also has a public library.

    Shopping
The area is in mall "no-man's-land" with nothing close by. There is plenty of retail activity along 118th Ave, but shoppers usually head either east to the Abbottsford Shoppers Mall or west to the Kingsway Garden Mall. The Capilano Mall, on the other side of the River (but with fewer traffic lights to & from) is also an option.

    Recreation
The area has large areas of parkland along the community's southern edge alongside the River, forming Kinnaird Park, and the large Borden Park is just south of the Northlands. The community is close to the Northlands (site of the Klondike Days Exhibition) and the Skyreach Centre (home of the Edmontn Oilers). This means you can walk to the events, but you also have local traffic hassles. The area is criss-crossed by recreational trails, which lead to the River Valley Pathway system. There area an indoor pool and two indoor ice arenas along the eastern side of the community. On the southern edge of the community is the Highlands Golf Course.
