[ Neighbourhood Map ] This established area southwest of Whitemud Drive has many one-of-a-kind homes. The community is nestled along the eastern bank of the North Saskatchewan River and lies east of the huge Whitemud Creek parklands. The neighbourhoods in this community include (from north to south): Brookside, Brander Gardens, Ramsay Heights, Buylea Heights, Rhatigan Ridge, Ogilvie Ridge, Carter Crest, Falconer Heights, and Henderson Estates. Newer houses are being built in the community south of Rabbit Hill Rd, as the neighbourhoods edge southward toward 23rd Avenue. New developments include Eagle Ridge, Ryan Place Riverside (with luxury single family homes), Riverside Common (with condo apartments and bungalow townhomes), River Ridge, Promontory Point, and Falcon Crest. There are also some larger executive-style homes being built in Windermere Estates a few miles to the south, adjoining the River Ridge Golf & Country Club. Schools The community has 5 public elementary schools and two Catholic elementary schools, and the high schools for the public and the Catholic board are outside the community. Shopping The area has a number of smaller shopping strips, serious shopping is done at the malls. The community is about the same distance away from the huge West Edmonton Mall to the northwest, Southgate Mall east on Whitemud, and Heritage Mall east on 23rd Ave. Recreation The largely undeveloped, well-treed and hilly Whitemud Creek parklands form the eastern border of the community. And the River Valley marks the western edge. The community has ready access to some of the city's prime recreational facilities, including John Jantzen Nature Centre and Fort Edmonton Park to the north, and huge Terwillegar Park to the west. River Ridge and Windermere golf courses are readily accessible to the southwest, though a drive away. Community Map
