[ Neighbourhood Map ] This area, nestled between Whitemud and 34th Avenue, lies between the Whitemud Creek parklands and Calgary Trail. The community includes the neighbourhoods of Aspen Gardens, Westbrook Estate, Royal Gardens, Greenfield , Rideau Park, and Duggan. The community has large urban parks scattered around, but more importantly is readily accessible to the parklands surrounding Whitemud Creek. The newer and more expensive housing is west of 119th Street, around the Derrick Golf and Country Club. Schools The community has 7 public elementary schools and two Catholic elementary schools, with high schools for the public and the Catholic board in the community, and a vocational high school just north of the area. The University of Alberta ("U of A") is readily accessible to the north. Shopping The area has access to two shopping malls: Southgate Mall just across Whitemud, and larger Heritage Mall to the south just north of 23rd Ave. This community has the added blessings of being close to the shopping treasures along Calgary Trail and not too far from West Edmonton Mall. Recreation The area has the large Whitemud Park on it western edge, and is connected to the river valley recreational pathway system by several bike routes running through the community (including one running right to the University). The community has an indoor swimming pool and an indoor ice arena at Confederation Park, on the north. The Mayfair Golf & Country Club is in the western end of the community. The Cinema City theatre complex is just across Calgary Trail. Community Map
