Oliver is just west of downtown, and popular with running-shoe commuters. This community is north of the River, south of 104th Avenue, and between 109th Street and Groat Road. Most people know the area for its restaurants and art galleries. Oliver has a mix of single family homes north of Jasper, and high-rise apartments south of Jasper with a great view of the river valley and of downtown. There are also some heritage buildings in the area. The area is accessible to LRT at either the Grandin or the Cordova stations.

    Schools
This tiny community has one public elementary school, and one Catholic elementary. The University of Alberta is a few minutes away by LRT and the Grant MacEwan College is on is north east edge. The public library's main branch is easily accessible by LRT.

    Shopping
Shoppers generally head either to the downtown, with its several shopping malls (all joined by the indoor Pedways). Pedestrian-oriented shoppers will find lots downtown along Jasper Ave (east of 109th) or around 124th Street & Jasper, where a cluster of shops, galleries and restaurants can be enjoyed.

    Recreation
This neighbourhood has an outdoor pool on its northern edge. The downtown core overlooks the North Saskatchewan River, which forms one of the longest recreational pathway systems anywhere. The Provincial Museum is on Jasper Ave, on the west side of Groat Road. And the core has a number of movie theatres. Telus Field, home of the Edmonton Trappers baseball team is close-by in the river valley beside the 105th Street Bridge. Commonwealth Stadium, home of the Edmonton Eskimos football team, is on 112th Ave & Stadium Rd (86th Street), and accessible by LRT. Victoria Golf Course is in the river valley, and just across the river is the world-class Kiwanis Aquatic Centre.
