[ Neighbourhood Map ] This area, east of 50th Street and south of the Yellowhead Highway (#16) is nestled in a large bend in the North Saskatchewan River. It has access to the inner city via 188 Ave, and the rest of the city via the Yellowhead Trail (#16). This community includes the neighbourhoods of (from north to south): Bergman, Abbottsfield, Beacon Heights, Beverly Heights and Rundle Heights. This area is relatively older and has a number of apartment and condominium complexes. The area is best known for its views of the River Valley and the park land (and sometimes industrial land) on the opposite bank. Schools The community has 5 public elementary schools and 3 Catholic elementary schools, with the high schools for both school boards a commute to the west in the Bellevue area. Shopping Shopping in the area is at the Abbottsfield Mall, with the newer Clareview Town Centre (with its Cineplex Odeon movie theatres) to the north. Recreation The area has large areas of parkland, wrapping around the community's southern edge alongside the River, forming Rundle Park. The area is criss-crossed by recreational trails, which lead to the River Valley Pathway system, and there are two pathway bridges across the River, leading to Gold Bar Park and Capilano Park on the opposite bank. There are tow community rec centres, the A.C.T. and the Rundle Family centres. On the eastern edge of the community is the Rundle Golf Course, and across the River (via the Yellowhead) is the Hidden Ridge Ski Area and the Strathcona Provincial Park. Community Map
