Valley Ridge Estates are north of the Trans-Canada Highway, just west and
across from Canada Olympic Park. On the north side of the community is the
Valley Ridge Golf & Country Club, nestled against the Bow River.
Schools
Public board pupils are bussed to Rosscarrock Elementary in Rosscarrock, Vincent Massey Junior High on
45th Street S.W., and Ernest Manning High off 17th Avenue SW.
Separate board students are bused to Assumption Elementary and Junior High in
Bowness, and St. Francis High on Northmount Drive.
Shopping
There is a shopping area at the entrance to the community which will ,when
finished, have a convenience store/gas bar, a seven-store strip mall, and a
two-storey office/medical building. Grocery shopping is done down the hill in
the Montgomery shopping area, or across the river at Crowfoot Town Centre, off Nose Hill Drive, has a Safeway and Revy, restaurants and several auto
dealers (both are about 8 kilometres away).
Recreation
The developer, Barbican, built the community around the 500-acre, 18-hole golf course
in the Bow River Valley, and has since added another nine holes. The community association has two ball diamonds, a soccer pitch and playground equipment.
Valley Ridge Community Association building used to be the Happy Valley ski lodge, used for both golf tournaments and private functions.
Of course, being just off the Trans-Canada Highway, it is a short hop across to Canada
Olympic Park, and directly on the highway to Banff.
Homes
Development is occurring in three areas, the Highlands, the Valley Brook, and The Estates.
There is also The Lodge of Valley Ridge, a seniors residence. Homes in Valley Ridge are being built by Albi, Cardel, Homexx, Shane, and Stepper.
