[ NW Neighbourhoods Map ]
Silver Springs is the community between Crowchild Trail and the Bow River, west of Sarcee Trail, and east of 85th Street / Nose Hill Drive.
The area is prized for its unobstructed views toward the Rockies and to Canada Olympic Park, across the river valley. Silver Springs was developed in the 1970s and has mostly single-family housing. The community has numerous parks that run through it and connect to the parkland along the Bow River.
Schools
The area has two public and two Catholic elementary schools. High school students with both school boards must commute to high schools in the Brentwood area.
Shopping
There are small plazas in the community, at both ends of winding Silver Springs Boulevard. For a large mall, residents head northwest to the newly opened and large Crowfoot Centre.
Recreation
The community has an outdoor swimming pool just off Silver Springs Boulevard. The area has lots of parkland, which connects to the Bow River recreational pathways that connect to downtown and to Bowness Park. Bowness Park, just across the river on 85th Street, has several shallow lagoons used for paddleboats in summer and ice skating in winter. For movies, residents head to nearby Crowfoot Centre.
Homes
The community is mostly single family homes in a range of styles, with some multi-unit condominiums on Silver Springs Rd west of Silver Springs Blvd.
