    These neighbourhoods, atop the North Hill, is full of larger, well-treed older homes. Briar Hill is located around the North Hill Shopping Centre, west of 10th Street NW. Hounsfield Heights is south of North Hill alongside the 14th Street Hill. Spectacular views of downtown can be had from the hillside park at 19th Street NW. This area is a short walk away from SAIT and the Alberta College of Art. The neighbourhood is serviced by the Lions Park Station on the Northwest LRT, making public transit an easy option for the University or for downtown. Pleasant Heights is just north of SAIT, and is popular with both students and faculty. Capitol Hill is north of North Hill Mall and is close to McMahon Stadium and Burns Field. Most of the area was developed in the 1950s, although there are homes dating back to the 1920s. Capitol Hill has a strong component of single family dwelling units, some of which (especially north of 16th Ave) have added basement suites.

High School student go either to Queen Elizabeth, in the river valley, or to St Francis to the north. SAIT, the Albeta College of Art and Design, and the University of Calgary are all within either walking distance or accessible by LRT.

    Shopping
    North Hill is a complete full-service mall, with a Safeway and a Sears. A short drive northwest along Crowchild Trail takes you to either Brentwood Village or Market Mall. For cozy shops and boutiques, head down the hill to the stores in the Kensington area.

    Recreation
    While Briar Hill is a very quiet neighbourhood, there are a number of restaurants and nightclubs along 16th Avenue and in Motel Village, across 16th Avenue, servicing the younger college and university crowd. The Southern Alberta Jubiliee Auditorium is just across 14th Street. For quieter alternatives, head into Kensington. For movies, you can head into either downtown or out to Famous Players Market Mall.

    Homes
    The community is mostly single family and a good numbeer of semi-detached homes homes, most built in the 1950s through 1970s. Ther are also two medium-rise condo towers overlooking the North Hill Mall along the LRT line.
